I made a sandwich for lunch (didn't eat it yet) and just realized i put expired KRAFT FAT FREE MAYO on it. Is it ok to eat it? It expired about a month ago-on July 11 2008, and today is August 18th 2008--. I had the mayo in my sandwich probably a few times after it expired, but nothing happened.

Should i eat it, or just make another sandwich with out the mayo?

  1. I've had mayo in the fridge a lot longer than a  month past the expiry date and it's been just fine.   I even keep home made mayo for a long time.

  2. Taste test.... do you have a dog?

No really, it is the egg in the mayo that will go bad. So NO

  3. ya u could get sick. sometimes when u first eat it, it might not be too bad and ur body can handle it but as it ages it gets worse and more bacteria. plus prolonged exposure to it can be bad for most people.

so ya make another or go buy another jar!

  4. more than likely its a "sell by" date not an expiration date. If it tastes okay, then enjoy.

  5. no way! thats like, rotten eggs practically.

make another sandwhich. you could get sick & i would imagine it would taste good =P

  6. Yuck! Please dont Because you might get sick. Unless you enjoy getting sick then go ahead.

  7. Just to be on the safe side, i wouldnt eat it. Mayonaise is made with eggs and when eggs go off and you eat them they can be pretty dangerous.

    I wouldnt eat it anyway.

    I hate mayonaise

  8. I'd try a little piece-if it tastes OK then go ahead. The vinegar in it should stop ot going off too quickly anyway, and expiry dates are calculated to guarantee it will still be good at that date, not that it wil necessarily be off after that date. I had some tinned peas once that were 2 years expired and still tasted fine!!

  9. I keep mine up to 2 months late then toss it. Ive done that many times and Im still alive and healthy.

  10. mayo can make people really sick when its expired. make another sandwich

  11. Store bought mayo is way safer than people know.  Everything is pasteurized, but still it does go bad.  Eat the sandwich but throw that out already.  You will know it's really bad cause it will taste funny.

  12. Ummm... Maybe you should call Kraft and ask how safe it is. Mayonaisse is whipped egg and you can never be too safe when it comes to egg, especially when it's past the expiry date.

  13. Make another one without the mayo. Especially if you've eaten the expired mayo before. Nothing may have happened then, but if you continue to you're bound to get food poisoning.

  14. No it is not fit to eat.bacteria formation  is already formed in it throw them away now

  15. My Kraft Mayo expired sometime last month too and it didn't smell well so I had to let it go and would encourage you to do the same for your well-being.  It's still your choice.

  16. Don't eat it. Better safe than sorry.

Contrary to what my mom's friend says, expiration dates are not just guidelines. LOL

  17. eating anything expired is bad and sometimes deadly. espesial mayo when its has been old it releases is chemicals that could make you die..

but if you feel fine than its okay, just throw it away and buy a new one. when you ate the sandwich you didnt taste it kinda weird? but never ever eat expired food!!

  18. well it probably wont kill u or anything, but the woese that could happen is that ur stomach might strt getting queasy, and if u eat rlly healthy ur stomach might not be accostomed to the old mayo, so u may throw up...but thats like the worse that could happen. Other than that....i know ur other sandwich would be put to waste...i just think u should make a new one just in case...who knows what grew in that mayo over the past month??

  19. If you want to take the chance of getting sick  then eat it...I know I wouldn't.

  20. Eat it and keep us updated on the results please.

  21. nah you shouldnt eat it cuz u might end up spending the rest of the day takin a c**p. if you have a pet or a brother give it 2 them so it wont go 2 waste

  22. I think you shouldn't, it would be ok if it said best before because then you could still eat it, even if a year had passed. But since it has an expire  date you really should think twice if you really want to eat it.

  23. if you want to get samonella

    or food posioning

mayo is raw egg it can make you ill!

  24. Kraft uses a LOT of preservatives.  If they mayo doesn't smell funny, it's probably ok to eat, but I would throw the rest out when you get home.

  25. It will be fine.  The put that expiration date on there with some padding to be absolutely sure it's still good up until that day.

  26. I would definitely eat it.  Those dates are just guesses, and if it looks fine and tastes fine then it should be fine.

  27. i think the real question is why do you keep expired Mayo for so long? LOL.

don't eat it though it could make you sick.

  28. For me I did the same thing only my mayo was not opened. so I'm under the presumption that if not opened it's ok but, did you get any stomach cramps or diarrhea if you did? I'd make another sandwich with another alternative.

    Hope this helps

  29. If it was 2 or 3 days ago and has been refrigerated, i would eat it but a month ago?, no, don't unless you want some serious stomach ache. Trust me eating expired food is Not please.

  30. MAKE ANOTHER ONE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GET REALLY SICK

  31. It is still okay to eat.
