i mean its my dream job sence i was 8 but its alot of hard work to get the degrees you need, the scuba license, the swiming practice, and more and so i will work this hard for years and then what happens if i dont get the job? if someone else is a little better? then what? i spent years trying to get there only to be turned down? where would i go from there? =(

is it even worth it....i mean it is deffinetly worth it to me if i get the job i cant imagine a better job for me..but what happens when if dont get it?

  1. Why would you want to spend all that time so that you can help keep a great animal in confinement made to perform tricks for people's amusement? Why not spend your time doing important research of these animals in their natural environment. What I know about the head folks at one particular marine park is that they are not so nice to work for and the pay sucks - for what? Go be a real scientist and do work that will really help the animals, not just keep them in a cage doing tricks.

  2. i think anyone is capable of achieving anything.

if you do all the things you say your goign to do i bet you will get the job.

okay maybe not at a big place like sea world  where millions apply for the job but there are hundreds of other theme parks that i am sure would be happy to have you

  3. look... there are only a few people who get to go to the moon...  and people still try.

if you give it your best, you can achieve your goal.  but if you don't even try, you'll never know whether you could have had your dream job or not.

don't ever let people talk you down or have someone elses opinion change yours.

if you try, you can do it.  and if for some reason it is just not meant to be... i'm more than sure that with those qualifications you'd still get a job most of us could only dream of.

maybe you simply shouldn't worry too much... most things in life tend to fall in place just where they belong... at least that's my life experience.

i wish you good luck and lots of fun!

  4. People that do really well training animals have a certain mystical rapport with the subject being trained.  Do you have such a characteristic?  Have you ever tried to train an animal?  Do you feel uncomfortable around certain animals.  I can tell you, as a wildlife biologist, if you are working whit animals because you love them, then you better fine another career.

  5. Given your attitude, the answer is your right, you shouldn't even bother.  I do not hire people who "Want to be an Orca trainer".  I hire people who love animals are fascinated by them, will do almost anything to make their lives better (especially work hard and learn more) but nobody who just wants to work with one type of animal and nobody who thinks the requirements are too hard.

A scuba license happens to be easy to get.  The hard part is the necessary dedication and fascination of animals.  And your right, it's competative as h**l and you need to be lucky and have some secondary financial support.  I also know people who need second jobs to support their training jobs.

I can think of thousands of better jobs for you.  You are what we call a glory seeker.  Somebody who has no comprehension of working with animals but thinks it would be fun.  If your not ready to train and clean up after dogs, fleas, birds, frogs, cats. bats and rats and do your best with each an every animal, then don't bother to apply and major in something else.
