  1. Yes it will give a smoother result but exfoliate the day before you get waxed do not do it on the same day.

Exfoliating brings blood to the surface of the skin so does waxing and you dont want to over stimulate the area of skin as this can cause the area to react badly to the waxing process. Hope this helps

  2. I've heard it's a good idea. Never tried it myself, but my Auntie Meggy regularly does it.

  3. OK, here's the thing.

If you wax again you should exfoliate before waxing to prepare your skin - every few days for about 3 or 4 times in advance of the waxing.

Afterwards, you should also exfoliate to prevent ingrown hairs but NOT immediately afterwards, only after the redness from waxing has completely gone - usually no more than 24 hours. However, you don't actually need to exfoliate that soon after waxing, only when the hair shows the first signs of growing back

I would also recommend that you put nothing whatsoever on your skin except plain cool water until that redness has died down Your skin pores are open and raw after waxing and even if your skin is not normally sensitive, you are likely to suffer irritation from products which might normally be no problem. The only exceptions to this rule are the specialist after waxing lotions/creams available or which your waxer may apply.

Regarding how to do the exfoliation, use either a pair of exfoliating gloves or an exfoliating body scrub (available for men as well as women but they're probably quite similar) or you could use both of these methods together. Follow the instructions on the packaging and you'll probably be okay.

You can also get lotions which are to prevent ingrown hairs. Ingrow Go and Tend Skin are the two which I am aware of. I used Ingrow Go around my navel which seems to suffer quite badly from ingrown hairs after waxing (sorry, probably too much information there), and it seemed to help. Again follow the instructions on the packaging and you won't go far wrong.

  4. Exfoliating is almost a necessity if waxing as it prevents you getting ingrown hairs when they start to grow back. I wouldn't recommendd the talcum powder either as you lose friction and the result won't be as good. If you are getting them done at a salon they will have something to put on your legs afterwards.

    Hope this helped.

  5. Yes. Also you can simply wash your leg before waxing. After waxing apply aloe vera gel.

  6. That's another word to add to my vocabulary

  7. welll duhhhh!!!!!!!

  8. yes def

  9. sure .. but dont do it after

  10. I would suggest not doing it on the same day as you may well cause irritation. By all means exfoliate a day or two before, but it's not a must.

After waxing, there are commonly some ingrown hairs when they grow through, so start exfoliating a few days or a week after being waxed too. I then exfoliate every few days up to the next waxing.
