  1. ok first you should not feel selfish, you do not have the extra money to tip.  second, the people who are telling that if you dont tip then you should stay home are just stupid.  You go there for the food and you are paying for the food end of discussion.  If however you go to mainly one place and always get the same good waiter then it might be nice to everyonce in a while give them a few dollars.  Waiters know when they take the job they will be working for less than min wage, they have no right to b**** about it later

  2. Order *******-a potato dish.

  3. What is a "working class"restaurant? Starbucks coffee Barista's warrant a tip! Service workers depend on tips not their measly pay checks!

  4. NO. THE GET MIN WAGE

PLS TIP THEM, PUT URSELF IN THEIR SHOE

  5. The hourly wage for most tipped employees is less than that for non-tipped employees.  The servers in restaurants live on their tips. Remember too that tips must be claimed on income tax.

Could you not pack your own meal at home?  Or perhaps you could pick up some prepared food from a deli or grocery store?

I don't know.  I always tip unless the service is outrageously bad--even if I am getting a take out.  In fact, if I know that the restaurant has a policy of pooling tips and dividing them with chefs and others who are making top-dollar salaries (not all chefs are paid that well, of course), I make a point of seeing to it that my server pockets the tip while I am still there and no one is watching.  But that's just me... You must do what you think is right.

  6. If you can't afford to tip,  then you have no business eating out.

  7. If you can't tip then you need to find a self serve or fast food restaurant. They are working for those tips and what they get paid hourly usually just barely covers their taxes.

  8. I don't see whats wrong if you dont tip its not like theyll resent you for it. Unless they provide excelent serivce theres no reason you should tip. Your right they do get wages and others tip but if oyu do feel that bad then if you can't afford a big tip just leave a small tip. Its better then nothing right? Dont eat out as much if you cant cook try to find a few recipies that have alot of food groups in them on the internet or ask around for help learning. Not trying to ofend you but eating out too much is a waste of money.

  9. What is a working class restaurant? Servers live virtually off of their tips. Their wages are next to nothing, especially after they claim their tips. It is extremely unfair to them to ask for their service when you go out to eat and not pay for it. It's almost like you making a music CD and everybody (the producer, the sound guy, etc...) gets paid for it except you. I don't think it's fair for you to eat out if you can't pay for it.

  10. I tend to tip really big in the working class restaurants.

I figure they need it the most.  I get the best service with no attitude and usually really good food.

I never understood why someone should be paid so much more for service a lobster than a burger.  It is the same amount of work.  I actually feel it is more work at the greasy spoons or mom and pop places.

  11. If you can't afford to tip you can't afford to eat out. Almost every server makes less than minimum wage as in 2.13 an hour, in my state. Their income comes from tips if you're too cheap or poor to eat out then you shouldn't. Being poor isn't an excuse to not tip.

  12. wow people are you serious..if you cant afford to tip your server you shouldnt go out to eat. servers get paid anywhere from 2 to 3 dollars an hour. my paychecks are always 0$ because of all the taxes deducted from my tips, which means all my money is from tips not my wage. it is a huge insult to a server if you do no tip them. IF you didnt have to tip your server, then resturants would have to start paying them a higher rate which would make you food costs rise, veryhigg, and inturn make service S****y, because it wouldnt mattter how good of service we gave you. i cant beleive people are saying its okay not top tip. if you cant afford it mayber you should look into a new career genious

  13. a tip for doing their JOB? i dont think so.
