It is a new 2008 Toyota Matrix. The scratch is right under the passenger side door and is on the plastic part. It is about half an inch long. I bought one tube of paint but it was a tad off color, and i had to remove it with thinner, so now i need to buy a lighter shade of silver. Should i pay another $13 to get the right paint? I already spent around $20 buying the 1st bottle of paint and the lacquer thinner i had to use to remove it.

  1. $13 more for a can of paint sure beats the couple hundreds the body shop will charge you. i had a small bunp/scratch under the tail light of my Vibe and they were asking for a couple of hundred dollars and 2 days in the shop to paint the WHOLE rear side pannel. I solved the problem with $20 worth of paint (of which I still have left overs).

  2. why dont you try thining out the paint with the thinner to see if it lightens up wont hurt if you try it on a scrap pice.

  3. Yea, if its worth it to you to not see that scratch, do it. That is in a very inconspicuous spot and someone will have a hard time telling it was there after there is touch up paint on it
