  1. If you are alone on the road, sure. But if you are sharing the road, you should go with the flow of traffic. This is what causes problems on the highways, someone not going with the flow of traffic. In certain area's, the trooper's are known to pull over those who may be going the speed limit exactly, but are in the wrong lane, messing up the flow of traffic. Why? It's unsafe. This I am referring to is, multi-lane roads.

  2. Unless you want to be fined you should...

  3. Nah.... Just do whatever you like.  Speed limits are for others

  4. Erm...

well the speed limit is there for being respected.

But you can of course dont follow it and get bunch of tickets troughout your life.

  5. The speed limit signs are posted there for a variety of good reasons, and there are highway patrols that will give you costly traffic tickets if they catch you speeding.

However, there are two reasons why it might not be wise to follow the posted speed limit.

    1. Suppose the posted speed is 50 mph & it is pretty obvious that everyone is going at 70 mph.  Conventional wisdom says that it is the slow driver (50 mph) that causes accidents, not that speeding (70 mph) kills.  You might ask a police officer or your DMV for what the state policy is on this, since it does vary by state.

    2. Weather conditions can make the safe speed somewhat slower than the posted speed which is intended for optimal vsibility, good dry highway.

If there is snow ice fog etc. then the weather conditions dictate prudent driving speed.

  6. Depends very much on how you value your life. All it takes is a mistake on your part or another driver and you become road pizza, just another statistic.

  7. only if you dont wanna get a ticket, you can always drive

lower than posted speed if you wanta

  8. that would be great but nearly impossible. At least try staying in the right lane even tho the truck drivers and others will be tailgating you. good luck. I tried to do the speed limit a few times and stay in the right lane-alot of nasty driver's out there.

  9. Posted speed limits are not suggestions, (although you would think so sometimes) Having said that, way back when I took driver's ed, we were told the safest speed is the flow of traffic. On a divided 2 lane highway if you travel in the right lane (USA) at the flow of traffic chances are very low of receiving a speeding ticket. Traveling in the left lane faster than the flow of traffic ups the odds. Expedience, road conditions, and the condition of the vehicle your driving all play a part. Driving at a speed your comfortable with is the best rule. Even if its slower than everyone else. Unless its slower than the posted speed. Here in Michigan it is possible to get a ticket for what they call "impeding the flow of traffic". Be Safe!!

  10. The correct answer is obviously yes.

    However....

I usually travel 8 to 9 miles an hour over the speed limit. Police are unlikely to pull you over at those speeds. Their fines increase 10 over.

  11. if you speed and kill yourself thats your own stupidity and your own undoing.

if you speed and kill someone else that person will haunt you for the rest of your living days

if you speed and severely injure someone else [brain damage, amputations] you will live buried in your own depression.

what if someone was speeding and caused your own leg and arm to be amputated? left you in a vegetative state? could you live with the thought of burying your own children [as we are all someones baby]!

is getting there 10minutes earlier worth someones life?

  12. Yes you should.

  13. There's a reason speed limits are posted, that is the fastest speed you can go safely. Mind you, most people don't follow them. Myself being one, but I dont really speed either (maybe 5mph over the speed limit). If youre a new driver i would suggest following the law.

  14. no way its too boring if you speed then you get there faster anyway

  15. no man go as fast as you like, if you go fast enough the camera's won't even pickk you up!!

    Good luck in jail!

  16. I was online at a local site that tracks averages speeds on a couple of highways near my house. According to the stats tracked by camera and radar, people drive 10-15 miles over the speed limit on highways.

Having said that, I recently got a speeding ticket for going 81 in a 65. The ticket was $180. bucks. Had I gotten the points associated with that ticket...at least 2, my insurance would have doubled to $2000.00. I ended up paying an attorney $500.00 to handle the case for me in court. He got the ticket knocked down to 79 in a 65. My fine was reduced to $70.00.

The $570.00 was a big price to pay for the joy I got from speeding. So I've slowed it down - now I only go 5 miles over the speed limit....okay, sometimes 10.

  17. yes, of course..they are there for some reason...

  18. DUMBASS...THERE ARE SPEED LIMITS FOR A d**n REASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. of course!

  20. Yes....................that is what they are there for to limit your speed and drive safe.

  21. h**l yea cuz if u r going to fast and u dont have time to stop u could end up in an accident
