Hi, i'm 14 years old, about 5'6" and 120 pounds. I got a crf-150f in december and ive ridden it alot since then. Ive gotten alot better and i really want a faster bike. My dad says we can sell my bike and use the money to get a new bike. I fit the 150r really good, and my friend has one too, so i dont know which one to get. Is there a big difference between the crf150r and crf250r? The point of getting the 250r is first off is that i wont grow out of it so easily. I also dont know if my dad would go out and trade in the 150r again in maybe a year or so because he is already losing money.

I just need to know how much more powerfull it is, because i can ride my friends 150r so i can know how powerfull that is. Please help, thanks

  1. you are right at that tough size where you are kinda inbetween the large wheel mini's and a full size bike.

are you looking at racing MX on it or merely looking at play / trail riding it???

if planning on racing, I would opt to go for the CRF250R and grow into it practicing getting accustomed to the bigger engine & frame design.

if planning on just a play trail bike, the CRF150R is probably better suited for your size immediately but if you ever grow a inch or two, will be starting to get too small for you both height & power.

the CRF150R is comparible to the 2 stroke 85/100cc bikes where the CRF250R is comparible to the 2 stroke 125cc bikes ... there is definately considerable more power but likewise more weight too for that power to push around.

as for fit, the 150R will be slightly shorter seat height but considerably shorter front to back (peg to bars) which comes into play as you get taller, your knees will be tucked up under the bars or if standing, you will be stooped over to reach the grips...

if you can balance the 250 even tip toe, I personally would opt for that over the 150

  2. a 250, go to a dealer and see if you can hold it up. if u can thats deff. the 1 to get. very powerful. dont worry bout gettin hurt it only goes as fast as u make it

  3. its like night and day.  the power and response of the 250r even though it's only 100 more cc's its at least twice as powerful.  if you buy a 150r your gonna out grow it or be board with it in less than two years guarenteed.  you will not be disappointed if you decide to purchase a 250r it may be a little much right off the bat but ull get used to it i promise

  4. it's gonna be quite a bit more powerful....

i'd be more worried about your height on it tho.... but you should be able to tip toe it or just use one foot.....i'm 5'4'' and i know the 250 would be a close fit for me....

ask to ride your friends, that's the best way... then you can verify whether it has the power and speed you want.. (more power and speed isn't always better, espeically in motorcycles... unlike a car, you HAVE to control the motorcycle or you WILL get hurt... if you can't controll it, you WILL get hurt, maybe even dead)

  5. well if your selling a 150 there is no use in getting a slightly better 150. If you go to the crf250 you will be happy you did it.
