  1. You might want to check out Consumer Search.  They collect reviews from all over the Internet, summarize them, and recommend  the best computers.  Their magazine-type articles are very good.  They have reviews for Apples and IBMs.

  2. If you are willing to take your time to learn mac is the best because it is user friendly and easy to use.

  3. mac you cant get any virus its much safer

    bbbbut...

    pc there are more downloads for it and wall i love pc

    and i think its the best out

  4. choose from what you prefer

    pc:

    * antivirus needed.

    * price cheap.

    * good for games.

    * good for installing applications that are fun to use etc.

    mac:

    * price very expensive

    * you rarely will find the games you want e.x. crysis, bioshock & assasins creed etc only big fish games are availble in the mac.

    * good for movies & music.

    * don't need antivirus.

  5. Well, put it this way

    Macs are nice because you have direct access to the shell (doesn't sound like something important to you), it's a pretty stable OS, and quite user friendly.

    However, Mac hardware is basically the same stuff you'd be getting in a PC marked up to 150% or 200% of the price just for the brand.

    Secondly, Vista has a pretty bad rep but it really isn't that bad. Don't believe Apple commercials designed to play on peoples' beliefs in nebulous rumours they've never confirmed first hand :) I made the switch from XP to Vista a few months ago and have never yet had a BSOD or any hardware issue involving drivers &c &c &c.

    Just considering that you're already familiar with computing in a Windows environment, get a non-Apple laptop. You could spend the same amount of money you would on a Mac and get much, much better hardware that will last you years longer for the same price.

    If you need recommendations of laptops to get in such a price range, post another question and I'll answer it, because I just bought myself a laptop last week after a lot of shopping around and research.

    Also one last thing - if gaming is at all something you're interested in, get a PC. Laptop gaming is never as good as on a desktop, but the argument of using bootcamp is just retarded because then you're literally paying hundreds of dollars extra for the same software on comparable hardware.

    Also - the 'no viruses' thing isn't really true. With the recent resurgence of Macs, people have started writing them for Macs again. Which is the only reason they were 'virus free' for so long - no one BOTHERED to write viruses for Macs.

    Also also the man himself Linus Torvald has called the Mac filesystem 'Utter c**p', so take that as you will.

  6. best thing is to dual boot.  Since MAC's EULA doesn't allow u to install mac on PC (Hackintosh) the legal way to do it is to get a mac and dual boot both mac and vista or xp on it.

    Btw if u r going to do a lot of multimedia work then go for the MAC or if u r going to do regular surfing etc... save ur money and get a windows.
