  1. Yes, a ninja 250 is an excellent beginner's bike. You could also try a ninja 500 or 650. As for a dirtbike that you could use on the highways as well (aka dual-purpose bikes), Kawasaki has some. Look up their KLR650 (msrp is 5349) and a KLX250S (msrp 4899). Best of luck!

  2. If you are under 18 yrs old you may be restricted to 250cc.

The Yamaha V Star and Kymco Venox, both 250cc cruisers are good bikes for new riders.

  3. depending on your riding abillity, and im thinking its quite low.

if you have the buget get a tzr250 or something similar there more snappy and turn on a penny, this will for certain improve your riding ability, but dont htink your me staright away,,lol,,good luck , and be carefull as some drivers just dont give a **** about us.

  4. The ninja 250 is an excellent beginner's bike. It was my first bike ever and it is awesome! You can buy a lightly used ninja 250 for around $2000 check craigslist.org everyday. Visit the FAQ or forums part of this site: www.ninja250.org for everything you could possibly want to know about the ninja 250. Basically, the bike is amazing, it is faster than a car, handles better than most larger bikes, gets great gas mileage, and is cheap and FUN FUN FUN! :D Good providence and email me with any questions. :)

  5. it's called an enduro and yes most dealers have a good starter bike.

a honda rebel is a good starter bike

  6. ninja 250's are good untill you get use to riding then you'll want to geta bigger bike. My first bike was a ZX6R, which is sorta big for beginners, BUT I know what i was doing.

i've never had an accident ALMOST but not quit. i've only had to put my bike on the ground once and thats because it was late at night and there was no1 on the road ,so  i was in the middle of the road, and so i put my knee down and turned the corner and when to accerate when"OHH SHHIIIIIITTTT!!!!!" there were 3 deer standing in the road and so in order not to go to the hospital i put the bike down and slid , luckly i had my leathers on and i had those fairing savers so nothing BAD was wrong w/ the bike. And the other time a charter bus pulled right out in front of me when i was doing 60MPH in a 60 zone

but anyway my girlfriend wants to get a ninja 650R, which is a good beginners bike, And the ninja 250's go like that when the shipment comes in, and before you know it their gone

  7. I personally don't agree with anyone who says to start off on a 250 or something super small. After a week or two of you riding and getting comfortable you'll want something bigger. I'd never ridden a bike before and started off on an 800, it wasn't too big and now that I'm comfortable I'm glad I got something I can hold onto for a few years. If you buy something small your going to lose money selling it and trading up. As for dirt bikes there are many dirt bikes that are street legal but unless you also want to use it for off road purposes I don't see a point in having a dirt bike for the road. Since you like sport bikes maybe try a Suzuki GS500, small and light enough to learn on but enough power to last a summer or ttwo.

  8. not enough power, you'll be bored in a week, I like Magz idea of the older CBR 600RR if thats not your taste buy an older SV-650.

whatever you do don't buy anything new, it's really dumb for new riders to have brand new bikes!

  9. ninja 250's are fine bikes for beginners, there are several others, too...

if you've got your heart set on a sport bike, you might want to look at an older CBR600

they have plenty of life left, and you won't mind so much if you drop it a couple times...

  10. No, the Ninja is not an easy bike to ride.

It is better to start with something with a lower center of gravity.  Older Suzuki Intruders, Nighthawks, something you can get flat-footed on and don't have to lean forward to reach the handlebars.
