  1. If you have owned many reptiles go with the savannah otherwise go with the ball python. The savannah is going to grow out of a 55 gallon in about 6 months if you care for it properly. The minimum cage size is 6x4x4 lxwxh. YOu will need a 130 deg basking temp. The savannah is not a reptile for the beginner reptile keeper no matter who tells you. The ball python is for the beginner

  2. you should definitily buy a ball python they are great pets only problem is they sometimes have eating disorders they have very mild tempers and are great fun i have had several of these and are trying to breed them as we speek

  3. Between the 2, I would choose the ball python. However, think this through carefully because even though they are neat to have, they live a really long time and there are so many that people just get tired of taking care of. Also, if you still are insistant upon getting one, make sure that it is a decent size. If it is a really small baby, it is difficult to get it to eat and there could be problems. My husband had one that actually got bitten by the mouse that it was supposed to eat and then it became so scared of it, the snake never ate again. He had to give it some type of paste in it's mouth , but it never got better. They REALLY have stinky p**p also!!!! It is rough! I felt like it was always time to go get another mouse at the pet store. It is not like a dog where you can get a huge bag of food to last a long time. It is a constant PIA!

  4. Oh wow pet snake has no idea what he's talking about besides the fact that savannah monitors aren't beginner pets.

Savannah monitors don't get that big they get about 3 - 4 feet they rarely become 5 feet and it is extremely rare to see a 6 foot savannah. I have a savannah that's 2.5 feet now and he's very tamed and is allowed to free roam, tell me who would let a carnivours animal free roam if he was dangerous?

Ball Pythons on the other hand can become a minimum of about what 10 or 12 feet and can get up to and past 15 feet. Snakes can be good pets because I also had a ball python but their very boring. Yes it's fun in the beginning to play with them take them outside but once it became adult size it became too heavy and risky too handle alone.

I like both snake and monitor but a monitor is smaller and more fun to feed, handle, and play with. An adult monitor can be housed in a 6ft x 4 x 4 foot tank it's whole life if it's three feet at adult age. You would have to house a python in it's own room at aadult size and have two people minimun to insure no one gets hurt.

I would not recommend a python to anyone who don't have the money for proper housing and care when they become adult size. It's very hard to find placement for a snake once it becomes 8ft and above.

I'm not trying to discourage you from buying either but make sure your ready for a 15ft snake or a 6 ft monitor.

    Hope this helps

  5. Savannah's get big, are nasty and dangerous if you don't know what you are doing. They need an incredible amount of space and are NOT for the first time reptile owner.

So yeah get a Ball Python

    edit: Infamous Nuk - Lol!

"Ball Pythons on the other hand can become a minimum of about what 10 or 12 feet and can get up to and past 15 feet." - They get around 3.5 to 5 feet. On very rare occassions they MIGHT reach 6 foot.

"Snakes can be good pets because I also had a ball python..." - Either you're a liar or you're insane. Which is it? Clearly you've never had a BP if you think it gets "10 to 12 feet"

"once it became adult size it became too heavy and risky too handle alone." - For what, an infant?
