i really want a bird but i cant decide on if i should get a cockatiel or a budgie. both are a type of small parrot and both are supposed to be able to learn to say a couple of words and to whistle and stuff like that. my family has owned macaws before, but now i am looking for something smaller and less demanding. i have done TONS of research on both budgies and cockatiels. i have read dozens of books about each bird and i have gone to the pet store and i wrote down the prices for the bids and the supplies it needs. i was considering getting both but then i realized that i don't have the money. so should i get a cockatiel or budgie? if you have any other suggestions of other types of birds, please tell me. i want something small or medium that can talk and has lots of personality. thanks!

  1. I would get a cockatiel....they become more bonded to you. I actally have both, I love both...but the cockatiel is a better bird I think. If you need any more info visit here. Good Luck. http://parrotcentral.net/

  2. if you want a bird that can talk and sing than a cocktail is best for you

budgies can do that to but it takes a longer time for than to be trained to do it and they don't do as well as a cocktail

if your just getting 1 bird than get a cocktail they real do get that lonely ok they do but budgies get more lonely so a cocktail is best for you

sins budgies are cheaper like they cost about 25$ and cocktails cost about 60-70 $ or less if you can buy two budgies that will be good because they wont be lonely

but a cocktail is the best for you

and if your family is quite than your cocktail will be quite to but for budgies even if your quite they will not be lol i mean like budgies like to talk alot

another small bird that's good is a lovebird there just like cocktails but the hate other birds like budgies and cocktails like if you buy a budgie or a cocktail and a few years later you buy a lovebird they will fight to the death

anyway i will recommend cocktail for you because it every thing your asking for it can talk sing etc

  3. i have a cockatiel, hes kind of boring, id rather have a dog, lol...oh yeah; and to anyone who says cockatiels arent loud; thats bullsh*t

    sorry

  4. i think you should get a cockatail because they are a little bigger and so that if you wanted to get a bigger bird you would have a little more expericnince with a little bigger bird

  5. I would be careful in assuming the bird you buy is going to talk; don't have too high of expectation for that or you may be sorely disappointed.  It takes a lot of time and dedication (at a very young age) to get a bird to talk.  So be prepared.  As far as which one to choose, no one can really make that decision for you.  I would go with which ever one you feel you'd like best, then maybe later on down the line you could get the other one you so like.  I'd get a cockatiel if you really want a talking bird, though.  I think they're easier to train; just my opinion though.  I've never known anyone who owned a budgie that would speak, though I do know that they can.
