  1. If you would feel safer, then go for it.

But make sure that you are 100% capable of handling it. Take a class on gun safety.

  2. Obviously moving is the best answer here. But you have addressed that and I can understand your situation.

First of all, make sure that what you do and buy is legal.  You don't need to go to jail.

If legal, I would suggest a pistol for close range self defense.  Rifles and shotguns are long, making them difficult to acquire, aim, and shoot in close quarters (especially with your adrenaline pumping - which it will be if you need it!).

Learn to use your weapon safely.  Take a class on firearm safety if one is available to you.  Learn the law pertaining to when you can legally use your gun.  Spend a lot of time at the firing range.  Learn your gun.  Get familiar with it.  Pistols have sights, but in a gun battle, you won't use them.  My cousin is a firearms instructor for the IL State Police and he tells me that close range pistol shooting should be instinctual.  The gun should become almost an extension of your arm and hand.  Practice, Practice, Practice.

I hope you never need to use your weapon if you get one.  But you should have the right to defend yourself.  Just remember that any right comes with responsibility.

Which leads me to another point - keep any and all guns out of the reach of children.  If you have children in the home, teach them what to do if they locate a gun.  The NRA has a program, I believe it is Eddie the Eagle, that helps teach children to not play with guns and to locate an adult asap.  I grew up with guns in the home, and I was taught early to respect weapons - they are not toys.

    Be safe.

  3. If you live in California you should move or call the police because our civilian gun laws are ******. However if your not a California resident i would advise you to buy a fully automatic weapon to protect yourself with.

  4. yes!!!

  5. no man you would be contributing to the problem be more of a democrat

  6. terrible idea,,,,,, get out of your neighborhood

  7. Safety is number one!

you need to be able to save yourself and your family. its a great idea

whatever you get, register it, none of this cash and carry c**p, and take it to the range and learn how to use it.

make sure your bases are covered though, lock your doors and windows

A saying I live by is "I would rather have a gun and not need it, then not have one and need one"

  8. What a collection of silly, misleading, and dangerous answers you've received from peers.  Move out of Dodge, get a gun only after you've taken a firearms safety course and at least know the fundamentals, and don't just shoot someone who walks through your door, it may be someone that was just mugged trying to get into a safe place and call police.  Always lock the weapon securely when its not in your position, like when your at work, or away from home if you can't carry it with you.  Many laws require you to have all kinds of permits to carry the weapon on your person and if you don't follow the laws you are the criminal, so be sure you know the law.  Go to NRA.ORG to learn the laws that pertain to you.  You can't simply shoot people as one answer exclaimed, you will go to prison for years. You need to learn the laws and follow them and if you don't you are no better than the people you are trying to protect yourself from.  Most of all, don't follow the hair brained ideas that some folks gave you!

  9. i would suggest you move out!

if you can't then just buy a fake pistol, like the ones that make a shot sound!

  10. if possible, i'd move. if you can't then yes get a gun just be very careful you don't want to get yourself in any trouble. good luck

  11. i think you should move... or call the cops... i'd be hella scared dude.

  12. If you can get out of your neighborhood. If you have to absolutely get a gun, get a pistol, as it is considered to be more of a defensive personal weapon than a rifle. Try to get more policing in your neighborhood if you can. Maybe you can become an Auxiliary police officer for your neighborhood?

  13. i would get one but make sure u do it legally cause if you live in the hood im sure the cops stop nd search people nd carryign a illegal fire arm will get you in some trouble....get a little pistol but dont go shooting people over stupid stuff......

  14. get a freakin ar-15 and shoot the next person to walk through your door!

  15. I'm not sure if it is a good idea.  But i would get a pistol if i were you.

  16. get a fricken shot gun
