  1. Wait another decade...it's still fairly new and by then it will be safer. My uncle got it and still has to wear glasses now and then.

Why not try contacts if you haven't already?

  2. my dad got it he says its the best thing he's ever spent his money on. and it dosnt hurt. but you shouls wait untill your 21 your eye most lickly arnt done growing at 18

  3. Most reputable doctors will not do surgery on anyone that is still growing or whose vision is still changing. This means that you might not be able to have it until into your early 20's. Some doctors will do it earlier. I find that most peole who go ahead and do that end up with trouble later. I work for an optometrist who is friends with the leading lasik surgeon in the US, Dr. Robert Maloney. He does all of the "Extreme Makeover" cases on TV. He has a website that also has an online copy of his best selling book that is all about lasik and answers all of the questions you have. They ar in Los ANgeles, but have a referral service for the best Doctors around the world. Just remember, BEST and CHEAP never go together in the same sentence, AND most of these Doctors would not touch you at 18 becuase they are not just in this for the money. The average age they do in this sinstitute is about 23 or 24 or more. It is also just too much of an individual thing....they take tear layer, corneal thickness, and over all general health into consideration as well as your age. It is way more complicated than what most people think. Go to maloneyvision.com and see what you can find out there. That way you will know for yourself what is entailed and you will be a bit more educated about it and can make a better decision for yourself.

  4. I underwent a lasik procedure when I was 20. That was to meet physical training requirements for an academy I was to join. I however find myself using glasses on and off now. If you need to go for the procedure, do it when you're 18 or 19, and get a specialist who has a good track record. Speak to the doctor's previous patients, if possible.

  5. My wife is 30, and I am getting her Lasik Eye Surgery for her birthday.  You need to use this time to research who is good in your area and who would leave you wearing eye patches the rest of your life.  Find people in your area who had it done and ask them about their experience.  Good luck!
