Should i get a male or a female betta?

Get a male. They are beautiful and they seem to live longer (I have had both males and females for many years). Just make sure you don't put a betta in the same tank as another fish.

It depends what you want a dog for,I think the breed you choose is more important...

Males:

PROS-Cheaper to fix, a lot more loving (I've found)

CONS-They spray if they aren't fixed,They tend to "wander" more than  females

Females:

PROS-You can breed from them

CONS-Bleed when they are in season

Well, it depends on your taste.  Males have those long trailing fins and bright colors, and are more impressive when they flare.  Females can be just as brightly colored, but their shorter fins make them faster and they like to zip around their tanks.  The also tend to be a little smaller and plumper than males.  Both males and females are full of personality.

Both are wonderful choices, it just depends on what you like best. :)

[edit] Please, don't put males with females.  Even fish that appear to be getting along can suddenly kill each other one day.

Well I had a Female Beta and a frog in one tank a male beta and a frog in the other tank. i already liked the male more because it was wayy prittier but the next morning my frog was gone out of the females tank and all that was left was two frog legs. the male beta and frog did perfectly fine together and the male lived for 1 year and 1 month longer than the female did.

I suggest a male betta.They are more colorful and live longer than females.Females have a more of an appetite.To include that males can not be put together.Males are more aggressive than females.

Females together will do a lot better than a male and a female.

Although you could put two females and one male.

They are also very easy to take care of.They do well in small spaces.

So you really don't need to waste money on a tank.Just buy a big bowl.

They live on average 3 years.A very high rate would be only 6.7 if

you are lucky.Every fish has its own personality.Even sometimes this could happen if you don't have strong fish let's say two males and they're both weak.They won't hurt each other then.But if you want a female try to take care of them well.They're faster than males.But live shorter lives.

It depends on your own taste. I personally love female bettas! I don't know why...I guess all the female bettas I have had have such large personalities.  I currently have one named Ursala in her own 10 gallon tank with an ADF and snail and she loves it. She flares every once in a while and tries to fight her reflection. Males are typically brighter in colors however if you are picky you can get beautiful females. Ursala is black (body), red with black trim (on her fins), and a little bit of a grayish, silver color (on the top of her head and back). Ultimately it is your taste though that will decide what fish you get. What you should do is just go to the stores and look at all the bettas regardless of s*x and then pick what fish you want the most!

Well, if you only want one, I would say male. If you are looking for an active, beautiful fish, males are great to have. They have striking features and many different types of tails.

If you don't mind getting more than one, get one male and two females. Yes, I OWN bettas, so for everyone that says they can never be kept together, they are wrong. I have owned bettas my entire life and sometimes I have just had one male and one female. They do well together in a community and can also be kept with other fish.

Again, if one, male. If you want more than one, one male and two females. Males and females have great personalities. Females are usually faster and have "fuller" looking bodies.
