Should i get a ported or sealed box for my memphis 8" subs?

this truly depends on what the goal of your audio system is.

as a rule of thumb, having a sealed box will give you a much better sound quality than any other box when done to the recommended specs.

doing a ported box will make your sub louder but depending on the tuning frequency of the box, the sound quality will be ok or bad. usually for customers who want a loud system yet have good sound quality, i make them a ported box tuned to 32 Hz. if they just want the subs to be loud and dont care about quality, then 33~38 Hz will be good.
