Should i get a snake?

Question

Just wondering if you guys think i should get a snake, i have been in and out of shops looking at them for about 3 years now but never got the courage to buy it. I have a horrible feeling that i will get sick of it and then want to sell it off again. I had a baby corn snake before but it died after a month because it stopped eating

What should i do as it is driving me crazy because i dont know what to do.

Yes, you should get a snake. Get a Ball Python, you will never get bored of it. They are really cool constrictors, but they are really picky eaters. So they will eat live mostly. Unless you train it not too which is extremely hard.

my little brother has a corn snake and it's doing fine they are actually pretty fun to watch and feed

get one! my cuzin had a pink snake i dink dats a corn snake but anyways he named it pinky! lol it died to......i dont know why but he was crying.

get a leopard gecko it doesn't need that much requirement the gecko its self is like 30$ but for the whole set like heating lamp .heat mat 10 gallon tank. hide substance(toilet paper} decoration, calcium dish and vitamins, that would be 135-150$

As with any pet you need to ask your self "Can I handle the commitment?"  Snakes can live for a long time some up to 30 years can you care for the animal that long ?Is the animal affordable for you?

Do you have the space for the animal? How will your family and friends feel about you having the animal? Will they be afraid? What is your landlords policy on pets ?And are you allowed to own the animal in your state or county? Do you have time for the animal or someone other than yourself to care for the animal when your not able to? If  the answer to these questions and you feel you can handle owning a snake then get 1. Snakes are very low maintenance animals. Snakes only need to eat 1 a week and can go long periods without food. Snakes don't need to be walked or groomed like a dog but instead can be taken out at your leisure. Snakes don't bark or chew and scratch your furniture, Snakes wont poo on your floor or anything like that their a good beginner pet.

Though I would always encourge people to get snakes as pets...this time I personally think you shouldn't get one....

If you have a feeling that you would get sick of them then don't because it isn't right to neglect your pets like that.

A snake just like any other pets deserves a loving home. Not a home that will have him/her transfer after the owner gets bored of it. It isn't right, not for you as a responsible owner and not for the snake as a loving pet.

You should only get a snake when you think you won't just leave them just because you are bored or because they aren't friendly. I encourge you to get one when you're ready. When you know that this time, I won't get bored and this time this will be my pet for the next 20-30 years. Get a pet snake when you are 100% sure that you're responsible enough to care for it.

I understand that snakes are very awesome and cool pets but what's so cool about it once you just don't want them anymore? What's so cool about it when you're just leaving your snake there day after day without handling them?

Ask yourself these questions...

1) Am I ready for another snake?

2) Will I get bored after a year or two years of owning a snake?

3) Do I really want this snake to be my long lasting pet of 20-30 years?

4) Can I handle the commitment for an animal...snake?

5) Is there anything that's going to happen in the future that would make me rethink about owning one?

* If you answer any of the questions negatively then I don't think you should get one...for the snake and for you.

I was in your situtation before too, it took me couple months to be sure =] Now I love them like they were my own babies =]

YES!!! They are soo awesome! I have a baby python and it is the coolest thing!! I have been a reptile lover since I was a kid and now I have a Bearded Dragon (Lizard).  If you have been contemplating for 3 years, or have been looking that long than you should get one!!!
