  1. It's purely a matter of preference, but for a 6'3" board, it will give you the perfect place to plant you back foot. I have never surfed with one, so I wouldn't guess how long one will last.

  2. definitely get one, nothing hurts more than having your foot slip off the back of a board and gettin it right in the nuts.  they also give you something to really drive off of on a big turn. make sure to place it correctly though otherwise it wont do any good.  ive never had mine wear (the boards usually get beaten up before the trac pad)

  3. I don't surf on any board without one, so that's a yes to getting a traction pad.  Also, just make sure you can find a decent one, no use in wasting $30 on a bad one.  Don't get the little strips either, get the full pad.  A traction pad will usually last about 5-6 years or so.  I just had to get a new one for my 6 year old board =D.  Has that new board smell :P well, hope this helped.

  4. Your gonna need one Matt for sure if you want to get the most out of your carves and turns! Get a good name brand trac pad too..to me it has better adhesive on the backing..mines lasted 4 years now.

    Peace

  5. its up to you but always remember less equiptment equals more respect

  6. Yeah, definately. A shortboard without a stomp pad is like a bicycle without a seat. It helps with foot placement in the beginner stage, and for guess what, traction, when you really need it and start to progress. It´l last for a good time, probably a couple years. I don´t really know, most of my boards break within a year.

  7. you should get one
