  1. be carefull which species you get because some hibernate so you will only get a pet for half a year. Also do not let you child ride it as this will cause stress for the animal and it could start to hate humans and become aggressive and bite your kids.

  2. yeh get one there very easy to keep

  3. If you want one you should get one

  4. I hope you're joking about the young ones riding it...tortoises aren't made to be ridden!!  My daughter volunteers at a local reptile rescue center and we adopted one of the tortoises a few years ago.  They are awesome pets, but if you want something to ride...get a horse!!!!

  5. If your young ones being able to ride it is the dealbreaker, you need to do a lot more research on tortoises. Most species don't get big enough to be ridden, and the ones that do don't benefit from it. Are you ready for a pet that may very well outlive you? Which child will it be passed down to? Do you have a secured yard that you don't mind a large tortoise grazing in? Oh yes, they will eat all your plants most likely... are you willing to build a heated tortoise house for winter months when it's too big for you to bring inside?
