i got my peach faced lovebird from a breeder and it is tame, i am still hand feeding it. lately it has started biting very hard and even when it really wants to get out to be on my shoulder it still bites whenever i put my hand near it! i was wondering if it would be better off with a friend, i can get another one off the same breeder which this bird grew up with but it would be a masked lovebird so should i or shouldnt i??

  1. i dont know, i never got my peach face lovebird one.

he was just fine, but he got bored when he was 5 and depressed.

if you dont have as much time, you should get one.

please know that they dont love you as much when they have a friend. good luck

but honestly, i think its a good idea

  2. maybe but i think no maybe just playing my bird does the same thing but she's playful maybe you pick

  3. Kara , you should absolutely get the other lovebird.  Last year i adopted 2 lovebirds from my friend that was going through a rough divorce.

One  a peach faced & the other a masked lovebird.  They get along famously & huddle together constantly.  They will have their days when they are more vocal but i always suspected it was just another one of "their love quarrels".  So glad that you purchase from a breeder & that they are hand fed.  Believe me this makes a major difference in the way they interact with each other and  with you.  My 2 were store bought and were not hand fed.  Like you , i love to interact with my pets.  They were so fearful of human contact that they would go berserk whenever i approached their cage.  Felt bad but was so grateful that the lovebirds had each other.  Good luck sweetheart you're on the right  perch!
