  1. It seems to me that you answered your own question:

"i juz feel that he needs a home tutor"

If you feel that he needs a tutor - chances are pretty good that he needs a tutor.

  2. Definitely. I use to be confident in my abilities too, but I did bad in tests. A tutor will not only analyze his weaknesses, but also point them out to him. It's better to get a tutor who could only focus on your son , unlike a teacher who has a lot of students and can have attitude problems. I would recommend that you try a tutor for two weeks and see the results. Sometimes parents have to be involved and get a tutor as some students do not realize their own potential.

  3. I have trained in quite a number of tutors in using online tools such as Elluminate and Moodle. Many are totally unqualified (rude, couldn't speak clear English, didn't know their subject matter), merely looking for a way to make money from home. But, I have also worked with some outstanding tutors, full of passion for the student and a very good sense of how to identify where the student is and how to get them to where they need to be.

Statistics have shown that students studying under a quality tutor can improve the students scores a full grade level every 30 hours of instructional time.

I would start doing some research to get recommendations from others who have used the tutor you are interested in. You didn't specify the grade level or the subject matter involved. I suggest adding that because there may be someone that can be more specific in their recommendations. :)
