  1. Well, AP classes helps you greatly when you fill out your college applications.  Colleges look for those that challenge their selves, and by taking AP classes, that is exactly what you are doing.  If you're going to take standard classes and breeze through it with A's, it wouldn't look too good on your transcript.  Now, I'm not saying take a load of AP classes, take maybe 2 a year.  I'm a junior this year and I took 2 AP classes last year and 2 this year.  It's not too much, and it's definitely worth it.  You want to set up a challenge for yourself, but remind yourself that you also want to succeed in the classes.  Just remember when you apply for those classes, you will spend much much more time doing reading and homework.  Don't think of it as anything like standard classes.  And oh yea, AP classes are also weighted on the GPA scale.  Good luck with everything.

Response to the comment above-  You have to pass the AP exam at the end of  the year in order to get the credit.  You can't just take the class and think that you will earn college credit just by getting a good grade in the class.  The class is suppose to be college-level, but they don't know that, hence why they set up the exam to see if you really mastered the material in the class well.

That being said, if you want to pass the AP exam, you definitely have to study a lot.  There are a lot of prep books out there, ask your AP teacher for more info.

  2. ok...well if you test into an ap class and you know that you could handle the amount of effort that you need for tht class (its a lot) I say go for all you can, then in college you wont have to take the classes b/c you already did. Thats only  for certain classes, but mostly it will help.
