  3. DO NOT get your hair permanently straightened. It is extremely bad for your hair. It can cause permanent chemical damage that can take years to undo. It is a very drastic solution to curly hair issues. You have to build up your hair strength before doing any chemical relaxing because some of the chemicals used can cause major weakening.

Instead try using daily curl relaxers. It is a serum that helps make your curls a little less...well, curly. Also, try going into a hair care professional and asking them to show you new and fun ways or products that might give you an opportunity to have more fun with what you were given.

If you do decide to chemically straighten, then read up on it first and go into a professional to have a strand test done, so they can give you more info on how the process is done and what extra care is involved before/after the process.

    Good luck; hope this helps!

  4. Yes you should get it permanently straightened.  My sister has really curly hair and she got it done. It didn't damage her hair at all and if she wants it curly then she can just curl it which takes like 10 minutes instead of an hour to straighten it.

  5. I know someone that got their hair permanetly straightend and it looks all fried and dead. So I suggest not to do it. And you should straighten your hair before you go to bed so you won't have to take as long in the morning. :]

  6. no, just use a straightener, there are gonna be times when you get tired of your straight hair too.

  7. Kayla-

I went through the same thing a few years ago.  I have naturally curly hair, but prefer my hair when it is straight.  I would straighten it with a flat iron, but because my hair was so thick and curly, it took 2-3 hours to do.  So I went and got a permanent straightening product put in my hair.  I still had to run a flat iron over it, but it took a lot less time to straighten.  At first I was happy with the results, but after a while my hair began to thin out, and it wasn't as healthy as it was when it was thick.  Your hair dresser is right, your roots will grow in curly and the bottom will remain straight, but you can always get a touch up on the new growth...but this can get annoying and expensive depending on how fast your hair grows.

I ended up growing out my chemically straightened hair, and now all of my hair is curly.  It took me over a year to regrow my hair back to its natural curly state.  Now I appreciate the curls more, and if I want it straight I just use the Chi Flat Iron and it looks just as good as when it was chemically straightened.  Oh and if you don't have the time to do it every day before school, you should straighten your hair and not wash it everyday, you should only wash it like every 2-3 days.  It sounds gross to most people, but if you just keep your hair clean and wear a shower cap over it in the shower, it will stay nice and straight for a few days.

    Good luck!

  8. i dont know i hear its really bad for your hair, but with curly hair like yours it might not be a bad idea.

  9. I personally think you should keep it the way it is. Straighten your hair when you want to, and if it takes a while then do it at night or break it up between the night and the morning. Some people said they have gotten their hair permanently straighten and then they wanted to scrunch their hair and it didn't work that great for them.

  10. i would say leave it ,think if you do it then you cant change it back like before.

  11. I would leave it alone, because when you get it permanately straightened, you have to use special hair products, and you hair feels dry. I wanted to do the same thing, but then my friend gave me some advice.

  12. I have natural curls, but not overly curly but my hair is fizzy. I don't like it. I have it straightened it permanently twice over the last 3 yrs. My thought is unless you can afford to straighten it every 6-9 mths, go for it as the new hair growing will be curly & it will look funny to have the top part curly/wavy following straight at the bottom. One thing to consider is that the perming lotion are chemicals & can be bad to your hair.

  13. there's so many down sides and no up sides. i think this is an obvious answer. GO GET IT PERMATELY STRAIGHT! ^^

  14. i have had my hair permanently straightend before and it was FABULOUS!!! this was years ago right after high school, i have black and mexican hair so its crazy curly but the best thing is is if your hair grows fast like mine then don't trip IT WILL GROW BACK
