  1. in a 10 g, 10 of either. neons are about 2$ each, fancy guppies are about 4 or 5 $ each, depending on variety =]

  2. This other chick that was just saying that guppies die easily is TOTALLY wrong. I happen to own over 50 Fancy Guppies and have owned them for 5 years and let me just tell you that that isnot true. Guppies are actually known to be low maintenence due to them being able to live through rough conditions.

I think that you SHOULD  get Fancy Guppies over Tetras for many reasons. The first reason is that every Neon Tetra looks exactley the same while the every Fancy Guppy has their own unique trait. You will have many more colors swimming through your tank then if you just had tetras. Pluys they are bigger than those puny tetras and both species cost about the same.

Please disregard what the other person has told you for it is simply not true.

    Hope i helped:]]

  3. It depends. First of all, if you wanted to get neon tetras, don't get them; i suggest getting cardinals instead. See a picture here: http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/pf... They grow to be nearly 1.5 inches, as opposed to neons which grow about 0.8 inches, they look similar except their colors are more vibrant, and they are shinier and last longer. On the other hand, guppies are nice too. Fancy tail guppies, http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=h... (And) http://www.aqua-fish.net/show.php?h=gupp...

are beautiful and come in a variety of colors. BEWARE!! Guppies WILL breed if a male and a female are kept together, whereas Cardinal tetras generally will not. Breeding would be okay, except your tank is only 10 gallons so you don't have enough room for may baby guppies. The choice is yours. They are both equal in quality, color, and physical characteristics. Both should only be kept with a few species if needed; I recommend the Serpae Tetra or Glass Catfish or Platies/Moons; many other fish may be too big or too agressive for your guppies and/or cardinal tetras liking. However, they will thrive on their own; keeping only cardinals or only guppies in tanks is recommended. I personally don't think they look good when together, although they do do well together. If you were to get only cardinal tetras, (which are the same as neons except brighter and slightly bigger!) I would suggest buying between 5-8. If you were to get guppies I would suggest buying between 6-7. More than this is not preferable, and if you put to much in a 10 gallon tank the ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite levels will soar. (Ammonia+nitrate+nitrite=BAD!)  l wish you good luck!

    Good Luck!!!!!

  4. I would get some of those tetras

  5. not sure how much they are but definatly get tetras.  guppies die so easily and you can only get like one or two males and like nine femailes because the males are mean to the females.  and they die so quickly.  theyll die because a fly landed on thei tank and they dont like that color fly.

and as for how many, a rule i kinda stick to is one galloin of water for every inch of fish.

  6. I would go with the neon tetras, at the pet store I go to you can get 3 for $2.  The female guppies are 2-3 bucks and the males are 3-6 bucks.  Remember that neon's are schooling fish so they need to be kept in groups of 6 or more.  If you get female and male guppies then trust me, you get babies.  This can be very annoying.  Maybe you have heard of the 1 inch rule, 1 inch of fish per gallon. I'll tell you how this works.  1 guppy needs 1 gallon because it is a 1 inch fish.  2 guppies need 2 gallons, 3 guppies need 3 gallons because you have 3 1 inch fish.  Make sure you aquarium has been cycled, this is when your aquarium matures.  To put this in a way you can understand see the link below.  Anyways here are some combos of fish for you:

    7 female guppies

    5-6 female guppies, 2male guppies

    8 neon tetras

6 neon tetras, 3 female guppies

I hope I helped.  Feel free to e-mail me if you have any problems.  I have listed some sites on guppies and neon tetras below.
