Should i get sony vegas or adobe after effects?

i want to get one of them but i don't know what each one does the best of what. what does sony vegas do and what does after effects do and which one is better

After effects is tonnes better that Vegas. It allows you to do some special effects and stuff. Im not quite sure. But Photoshop and Illustrator are the top programs at what they do, and made by the same people as After Effects.
