Question:

Should i get the diana or the holga?

I have wanted a lomo camera for ever and my birthdays coming up so i decided to go ahead and get one but now i cant decide if i want to get the holga or the diana which one do you prefer and why? Whats the difference between the two?

  1. Holga: more accessories and potential.  With a holga you can use 120 film (for shallow depth of field, part of the dreamy appeal) or 135 for convenience/budget.

    lomography.com also have loads of lens filters etc that further modify your holga, the same isn't as true of the Diana


  2. The two are really in the same family as far as what they do. They're both plastic cameras and they both take medium-format photographs. However, it is my experience that the Diana has more problems than the Holga. The last Diana I purchased had the lens break off before I even had a chance to use it.

    Diana images will be smaller (less space on the negative taken up by your picture). Holga seems a little sturdier. I think you'll pay less for the Holga, too, but I'm not 100% sure on that.
