i have been long wanting to establish a new landscaped tank with community of transparent fish (glass catfish, orange tetras etc.) but i already have 3 large fish tanks; 1) single red tail giant gourami, 2) community of small fish and 3) plecos community.. dont have any space for any new tank.

i am thinking of giving away my giant gourami to a friend but the gentle giant have been living with me for 6 years now. should i give the giant away or should i keep it. how about the glass fish????

  1. If you have had it for that long you should keep it.  I have had a betta fish for like a year and i couldnt ever give him away lol.

  2. Well why not give away the plecos they will take at least 3 feet of your tanks I mean it seems you love the gourami so much.

Oh here is my 3 year old brother saying hi: cciuhihihihhiuxzxsesesjsjjbjbjhjhjhbvhmn...

  3. Well, it depends on if you are more attached to your fish, or to your dream of the transparent fish.  Whichever you want more should be what you pick, as long as your friend is responsible with fish.  If you end up missing him you could probably visit.

  4. Tough one. I can get rid of fish if I'm not attached, but gourami's are pretty cool...

I really like catfish, the glass catfish are really neat. I've been thinking about it, but the group at the store is just sitting there in a bottom corner for weeks. Maybe they would be happier in a real tank, but if not it would crowd the bottom of my tank. There's already a pleco & 5 cories in it.

I would try moving some of the plecos to different tanks, and keep some in the original tank and add your clear dudes to that one.

What is in your small fish community? I saw sparkling gouramis and thought about them.

  5. awww i  wouldnt give him away!! He's been living a good life with you and may not live the same if u gave him to somebody else! keep him
