  1. Yes it is a very good choice. The ps2 has a HUGE library of great games. Plus they are all older so none of them should be more than say 30 bucks at the VERY most. Get a slim. The differences between the slim and the normal are a follows:

    1. Size.

    2. Normal can fit a hard drive slim can't.

    3. Normals disc tray is moterized, slim has a flip up lid.

    4. Normal is easier to take apart to clean and fix if broken.

    5. Slim has an actual power supply indstead of just a plug in chord. This can fall out of the ps2 easier (so the system would shut off) than on the normal ps2's, but only if you take bad care of it.

    6. ALL slim ps2's are internet ready from the box once you use the install disc included. Normal ones require a hard drive and the disc to run it to play online, and don't come with the online install disc that the slim does. But most people won't be playing online on ps2 anymore.

    7. Normal needs cleaned more (VERY CAREFULLY) on the inside because of the many more places dust can get into. This if not cleaned causes laser malfunctions and overheating.

If you are looking for a cheap console, (but the games are expensive and so is playing online) then I suggest the XBox 360. The PS3 blows it away, BUT the 360 and older 360 games are overall cheaper. But once you want to play online on the 360 it gets REALLY expensive.

But very soon the 20 gigabyte 360 will drop to 300 dollars because they are coming out with a 60 gigabyte version (a lot more space for game saves and downloadable content, just in case you don't know much about computers) and this 60 gig version will take over the old 350 dollar price. Or you could get the 360 Elite which is black, AND has 120 gigs (all the space you will ever need) for 450 dollars.

The ps3 is 500 dollars for 40 gigs and 600 for 80 gigs, but while it is a lot more usefull, if you don't know much about computers a lot of it's usefulness will not matter to you because you won't know how to use the different abilities it has.

But the ps2 is really the only choice if you want cheap and plentiful in all aspects. Get the slim if you want easy use. Get the normal if you want to put in a hard drive for essentially infinite game file save space.

    Hope that helps...

  2. well yes its worth it cause its so cheap and cause you can easly get it chipped (software to let you play copied games) unlike ps3 (they cant be chipped) or if you want to get games with better graphics then get the ps3. which ever you get it will be fine.

  3. yeah go for it i have 3

  4. you should try and get a ps3! its library continues to grow, the ps2 does have a huge library but not many note worthy games have come out recently since the release of the ps3!!! plus if you can drop 100 dollars more for the better ps3 you can play ps3, blu ray, and also ps2 & ps1

  5. It's virtually the same as the bigger Ps2, but believe it or not, smaller.

It breaks down alot less and it's faster aswell. So I would say, go ahead and get one, because it's a small price to pay for a big upgrade on your older Ps2.

But there's always newer consoles. Such as the Xbox360, which price's are lowering on.

  6. better get xbox 360 dude...

  7. Only get it if you really want one. Do you think you will really use it or would you rather get a newer machine?

If its just gunna sit there and collect dust, I say pass on it. But if you think you will use it then go ahead, its cheap and the games are pretty cheap (especially used).

  8. yeah for sure i had mine for 5 years but then i got the ps3, if u can get a new gen. system ps3 or 360 or wii its closest in price.
