ok, im not sure where to ask this but i figured this would be the best place . heres the situation. i was singing at the wedding of my best friends brother. the bride is the neice of an exec who works at a big record company in Nashville. he called some people and asked me if id be interesting in coming in for a meeting to sing for them and discuss the possibility of a deal. im super excited about this! this has been my dream since i first picked a guitar at age 4 and started singing at age 2. im being raised by my brother Chris ( mom and dad...dont even wanna talk about that) and he thinks im too young to get into something like this. im 14! im not too young. ive wanted to do this forever and he wont let me go. but i made up my mind to go anyway, even though i know could get in trouble. my cousin and his girlfriend said they would take me and be in the meetings with me. the chance that i'll get grounded is worth it to me. what do you think, this is my dream, should i go for it?

  1. Honestly, things like this will only come around maybe once in your life. Maybe you could ask him to let you wait a year or two? But seriously...I've always wanted to be a country singer, and I haven't really had the time to pursue my dream, but I know how rare this is. Do it, really.

  2. go 4 it all

  3. yah go for it. this is a one in a lifetime chance. im sure your brother won't mind once you've become famous(if you do). good luck

  4. Yes, you should go for it!  But it would be best if you and/or your cousin could talk to your brother and get his OK first.  It sounds like your brother is your legal guardian. What if the best happens?  Suppose you audition and everything goes perfectly, and they offer you a deal.  At  14, you will probably have to have your legal guardian agree to it.  If you can get your brother on board right from the start, things will go much more smoothly.

  5. I mean i dont wanna stop someones dream! If it really is you should go for it. But i do say you are very very young... To young to be in the business atleast wait 1 more year. My husband is a composer, and he HATES all the attention he gets for it. He doesnt like being famous it was his dream to be a singer/composer and now that he is one he doesnt like it. Constantly writing, and always singing the same songs over and over everyday its really very hard. But if you like working non stop with things like that i say go for it. But your in for a big suprise! Trust me.

  6. you should go

this might be your one chance to get a singing career

if you dont go i think yourll always regret it and wonder what could have happened if i went

just make sure someone older stays with you

  7. Go for it! Age doesn't matter at all. Have you ehard about the 6 year old girl named Connie that was in Britain's Got Talent and went to the finals?

    Good luck!

  8. I hate to be the fly in the ointment here, but this will be the shortest meeting in history if you do not have your parents or legal guardian with you. You are a minor, and you cannot sign a contract. No, your cousin and his girlfriend won't be good enough. It has to be your parents or legal guardian (and don't even think of forging some silly "permission slip", that won't work either). The company will not even deal with you if they're not legally allowed to conduct business with you, and they won't appreciate it at all if you try to deceive them.

Don't waste the time of professionals if you're not going to be able to follow through. It will make you look bad, which will be much worse than merely getting grounded because it could  hurt your career. Work on getting permission, because you absolutely DO need it.

  9. heck yes! this could be something that only happens to you once in your whole life. im 14 too and i write my own songs, play guitar and sing as too. and if i had this chance id go for it no matter who stood in my way. its easier to beg for forgiveness then to ask for permission. you brother might be mad at first but if this is truely what makes you happy, im sure he'll come around to the idea.

good luck. i hope it all works out well for ya!

  10. Yes, go for it! It's your dream!

  11. Of course you should go for it! You'll spend your whole life thinking "what if" if you don't. What's the worst that can happen?

Go for it and sing your heart out!
