Question:

Should i go for the promotion?

my boss just quit, giving me an opportunity to go for her job. i'm in sales, and this would be in management. i'm conflicted because it could mean more hours and less freedom. in general i want to work less hours and have more freedom. but i also feel compelled to move up the corporate ladder. if i don't go for the job, it almost seals my fate in staying in sales and ultimately finding another more flexible job. help!

  1. Sales = money.

  2. You need to decide on the quality of life that you want to live.  There are so many factors you need to consider... age, family, kids, happiness, etc.   Yes, passing up this opportunity may seal your fate for future promotions.  If you're young without a family and kids, you may want to go for it.  Sometimes... working long hours is a matter of choice for some people.  If you can work her job smarter.... you may find you don't lose out on the free time.
