this summer i am planning to go to london from tokyo by a direct flight but my parents can't go with me. i want to go asap so i can visit friends etc. but i don't know if its dangerous to fly for 11 hours by myself, i think i will be ok but my mum is worried, but my dad doesn't. I'm 14 and i've lived in london for seven years before so its not unfamiliar to me at all, but is it normal for a teenager to fly solo???

  1. It happens all the time. Get yourself booked as an unaccompanied minor and you'll get better service and more attention and if their's a problem a flight attendant will help you through it.

  2. i flew by myself with my little brother when i was 10 and he was 6 from puerto rico to new york. So not only was i a child but was responsible for taking care of my little brother, which i love very much. the good thing if you are underage, airlines will chaperone you, however for what I remember someone over age has to be there with you in order to pick you up. I dont know if that has changed, in 23 now. But make sure your parents are ok with it, they make they decision along with want you would prefer.

  3. Its totally safe, i assume your parents can at least drop you off at the airport, then make sure you know where to go after you arrive, (which bus to take and etc. or even better if your friend is picking you up at the airport) then you will have nothing to worry about.

And if you want, you can bring something with you to keep you entertained for the 11 hour flight. (books, mp3 player, and so on). and sleeping is always a good way to pass time.

  4. sure you can go by yourself. good luck, its not a big deal. yes it is normal. i started travelling on planes at the age of 12. its fun, have fun take care.
