Should i go running before or after basketball practice?

we have our first basketball practice for summer league today at 6pm. for cross country our training starts today as well, and im supposed to run 4 miles. i haven't been keeping up on my running so im definitely not in good shape, but im going to work really hard this summer.

so my question is, do you think its smarter to run my 4 miles before i go to practice or after?

i also will have conflicts with games and my running, so the same question...should i run before or after my basketball games?

  1. Depending on how you feel and your level of conditioning you could run before or after practice.

    It might be best if you ran early in the morning.


  2. I run after basketball conditionings.  I am in the same situation as you but I have a friend on the basketball and XC team.  Definately run after practice but don't push it to hard.  You could run in the morning, that would be ideal (I would but i work in the morning0.

Definitely run after practice.  I play basketball too and with the intensity of my coach's practices, if i had ran beforehand i would not be able to make it halfway through practice.  When you run afterwards you don't have to run for 4 miles because you would have already run a lot during practice.  Just run as much as you feel necessary or until you feel as though you cannot run anymore.  That way you will get the same results and still have energy for practice!!
