I am 14.

I have been involved in local theatre and dance for a long time now and wish to pursue a career in the industry. I know that i would like to go to a full time theatre school in London. In september i will be studying dance music and drama at the italia conti school. I also do well academically at school.

Is it better for me to go to a theatre school aged 16 or 18?

  1. The sooner the better!!

  2. "In september i will be studying dance music and drama at the italia conti school."

Honey, I would kill for the opportunity to go to this school. But if you are at a good academic school now I would stick with it and suppliment with the ICS on Saturdays.

But one thing I would keep in mind - at 18 you will, as the other poster has said, have to consider tuition costs.  Now would be a good time to look at planning for scholarship applications.  If your grades are very good and you have talent in acting things should work in your favour.

  3. See if you can find some professional actors in your area, or even contact a director at a local professional theatre. What you're looking for is a place where you can work on your skills without picking up bad habits, and the pros will know how to steer you.

    Good luck to you.

  4. most professional theatre schools state " age 18 and over "

they do courses for 16 and 17 years old.

i would stick it out til your 18 like me.

then train at a very very vey good theatre school.

i recommend the guilford school of acting

    and/or

the sylvia young theatre school (need scholarship or fees are VERY high)

    and/or

the brit school ( no fee or scholarship needed)

you can go to brit school from 16 years.

maybe we will meet in drama school one day

  5. It depends. Is there a difference in tuition and who will end up paying it? Would getting a more rounded education benefit your theatre career in the long run? (I think it would.)
