Question:

Should i have been able to ski?????

i TRIED going skiing a week ago and i just couldn't get up out of the water - i was almost there but after like 10 times of trying i felt like my arms would come out of their sockets. is it like really easy or does it take most people awhile to get??

  1. I would say it takes a while because when i tried at first i felt the same so i decided to go a little easier and slower.

    but if you're already at the slowest and easiest you should ask your tutor for advice.


  2. if you only tried about 10 times, then thats not near enough. It really depends on the person. I have found that it is usually harder for girls to get up than guys, just because of the strength factor.

    Just remember to keep your skis together and straight. bend your knees and keep your arms bent. Let the boat pull you up.. dont try to stand up. use your arms to adjust to changing speeds and to keep you balanced. bend your knees so that they act as shocks when its rough.

    The main thing is to keep trying and stay positive. It might take a while, but once you get it, you will have it. It is just like riding a bike...once you get it the first time, you never really forget. Skiing is the best and well worth the pain and the work!!!!! Good luck!

  3. some people get it in three tries. others take a week or more. A lot depends on age, weight and power of the boat, Just keep at it, its great fun once you get up. Pain is good, it means you're working hard :P

  5. It takes practice.  Once you mastered getting up on the skis, it's only time that takes you from one wake to another.

    keep you knees bent and flexable.  Don't pull the boat, let the boat pull you.  Always keep your arms bent (for waves and adjustment) and knees bent.

    I used to do it all the time, but I got too old.  I can still get up, I just don't jump anymore.
