Question:

Should i homeschool again?

i homeschooled about two years ago, then decided that i needed to socialize with others and find out what a real workplace and deadline was about. now, i feel as if i'm wasting my time because i could finish school faster and get on with my career earlier.

only thing is there are things i do and do not enjoy public school.

i do enjoy my creative writing, volleyball, and choir classes that i would not be able to have with my homeschool + what social life i have and the fact i have deadlines and real teachers.

however, with homeschooling i could advance faster and i made better grades. also, when i am having sickness or other problems, i can still school, or when i'm not feeling good i can sleep in.

my chosen career involves working out of my home, as well, so do i really need to care about being socially retarded?

i am having an internal conflict. what would you do if you were in my situation?

  1. There are way too many people in the world for you to be a "social r****d" just because you homeschool.

Some states offer a partial home study program, whereas you attend public school for a portion of the day and homeschool or home study the other.

  2. Next year im going to be homeschooled because my mother thinks it will be best. If I was you, I'd pick homeschooling because right now, you dont need to be making tons and tons of friends. You can join sports or any other activity to socialize. Trust me, all public school does is fail you! You get distracted with friends, fights, and boys. At home you can go at your own pace and stay on track with your life. So just go join a sports group or something. And, for a bonus, you can get a job (socializing)! And you know what that means right?! Yes, shopping.  :) I hope this helped!

  3. if you homeschool are you still allowed to participate in the extracurricular classes?

I know in our state the school must allow it, as our tax dollars go towards it, and even tho our child is not a student in the district, we as parents still pay the taxes that go to the school.

I'll see if I can find the info to support it.  Sometimes the schools are reluctant, but if you go there with proof in hand, they cant refuse you.

With that said, I think you need to make a list of the pros and cons of staying, and one for returning to hsing.  discuss with ur parents as well.

    good luck

  4. I'd say from personal experience that you should probably try to keep away from homeschool after maybe junior high, because being socially retarded sucks.

In fact, getting through school faster and being smart really sucks.

    Don't do it.

  5. First of all, homeschooling should never make you "socially retarded". There's absolutely no reason why you should be at home all the time. If you were running an at-home business, would you really be home all the time? Of course not. You might go to the gym--especially with some friends--or have a class of some sort or go out for lunch with friends... If you are going to homeschool, you need to be responsible for ALL areas, including being social. There are probably tons of things where you live you could do with others while you homeschool.

If you are not willing to take care of your social side, do not homeschool. Plain and simple.

If you are willing to homeschool and you think you'll be able to create your own deadlines and work faster, then do it.

  6. To be honest I was never in the public school system, so I dont know what that is like, but I was homeschooled and I understand what your talking about and at time during my highschool years I wished that I could have a social life, but then I just started being more outgoing and I made friends with people who went to public school and homeschoolers so its not like I didnt have a social life and about te classes that you like...see if you can just take those classes while your homeschooling...if thats what you choose to do which I suggest if you want to finish school earlier =) hope this helps!

  7. It could be quite possible for you to stay in public school...keep enjoying the things you enjoy... keep being young and still advance your studies....  Don't rush into the workplace when you have all of this time to be young.  There will come a time in your life when you will look back on all of these great memories from school, and sit back and think 'man I wish I didn't have to work all the time....'  So often teens are told to not become adults too young and not to place themselves in adult situations.... Usually that statement is referring to becoming a teen parent, but, it equally applies to placing yourself in a career.  Let yourself be young, stay in school, enjoy the time that is left....  at the risk of sounding cliche'... this time will be over sooner than you think and you can't get it back....  You have your whole life to work, you only get a chance at high school once.
