So here's the deal....i was a my sisters regatta this weekend (nationals) and long story short, the coach basically recruited me because apparently i have the "perfect body" for it? Well anyways i don't know much about it or if i would even be any good because i would be starting late ( i am going to be a junior) and don't have any experience.

I am a 16 year old girl by the way, 5'10 (almost 5'11 =] ) and 150 lbs...that may sound like a lot but im not fat...at all

As for my physical shape, i play high school varsity level volleyball and softball year round. Softball isn't the most ideal sport to keep me in shape but it keeps me strong while volleyball on the other hand is the hardest conditioned sport in the school. Also, i run 4 miles at least 6 days out of the week .Plus I'm a strong swimmer ( just in case i fall out of the boat =) )

thats probably way too much information then what's actually needed but im trying to get an accurate evaluation...THANKS GUYS !

  1. Go for it.  Rowing's great for fitness, body shape and strength, and it's great fun too.  You have a good physique; being quite tall helps, and your weight is about right.  It doesn't take too long to get rowing; it's not too hard to learn and master once you've got the basic technique.

  2. I'm not a rower, but it sounds like you're physically capable to give it a shot.  Here's a link that may help you better understand what you're getting yourself into.
