No way.  Go for the Navy or the Coast Guard.  You'll have hot meals and won't have to sleep out in the mud somewheres.   Plus frequent showers and clean clothes.

Please define older. How old are you now. What would be a reason as to why you want to join. Need some more info before anyone can give you an educated response.

Nah bro, don't join. Go to college, chase the girls. And if you really want to go in as an officer. Don't go in as a grunt. God forbid you get hurt or maimed or something. You've got your whole life ahead of you. Don't waste it.
