  1. i am 15 i am also interested in joining the marines. i say go for it and you mom says no future whel if all els fails you can always join blackwater

  2. I'm sure your mom is just scared that you'll get hurt.

    Pros:

    1. G.I. Bill (college money)

    2. Steady job employment

    3. health insurance

    4. A steady salary that increases by rank and time in service.

    5. you can retire at age 37!

    6. you get to be one of the few, the proud. You'll be a Marine!

    Cons:

    1. They own you, you do what they tell you, no matter how stupid the order

    2. highly dangerous (duh)

    3. Opportunities for college while on active duty are a bit stretched.

  3. Well I know from experience that it is great! My Fiance' is in the United States Marine Corps, and although it SUCKS being away from him, it is really good for him. If you go in at 18, you can retire at age 38. You so much money for college, enough for him & myself to both go. You dont get paid much just starting out, but as you move up in rank you get paid more. And if you decide to only do one enlistment, and you don't get in trouble or anything and you do 0311 Infantry(My Fiance is in FAST Company, which is a fast react platoon, where if no other branch or Regular Marine Infantry can't handle it on their own, FAST is called in), you have either Secret or Top Secret Security & with an Honorable Discharge, its very easy to get a job as Police, FBI, or ATF.

  4. h**l yes you should!!!

Your mother is just flat wrong. There is a great future in it if you want there to be one.

I was an 0311 infantryman. I loved my job, but I hated military life style.

The inspections the rules the c**p they think of for you to do. It sucks.

Don't let anyone lie to you either. It is not all for your benefit as they tell you in boot camp (I am not a recruiter so I will it like it is.)

By that I mean it is just plain pointless some of things they do.

However the pros far outweigh the cons. It was the most miserable 4 years of my life but at the same time it was the greatest experience ever.

As with anything else. It is what you make of it.

So. If it is a dream of yours then do it. Just take it easy and only sign for the required 8 years. ( 4 active 4 inactive) If you like reup if not. You did your time now take what you have learned and apply it to civilian life.

    Good luck.

  5. Make sure you get training in something you can use in civilian life when you get out.

  6. I DID IT....STARTTED AS A PRIVATE AND ENDED AS A CAPTAIN...

  7. Depends, if you want to serve your country, then no. Go into finding corruption. If you want support the corruption in our society, then yes, join it and be the front line soldiers who put down the "enemy".

Enemy in this case is anyone who disagrees with our government.

  8. Absolutely!

I'm ex US Army so I really am not qualified too tell you to much about the Marines other than what I know from working along side some of the best.

Marines are confident, quick, smart and fierce.

They never start something they can't finish, never make a promise they don't keep, never leave a fellow Marine behind, They have tremendous respect for our flag, our country and our American way.

You will be challenged, shaped and molded into a confident, capable and talented individual.

Once you are a Marine you are in a fraternity for life.

You will always have your brother Marines to watch your back.

Even if you leave the service, you will always harken to the cry "Semper Fi."

And when you say those words your brothers will know you.

    Good luck son!
