  1. the Guard Regiment

  2. All fine branches of the British Army.

But if you reckon on, say, 20 years active sevice  - and take the longer term view - that is starting a 2nd career around age 40 -  you'd probably find specialist training in RE stands you in better stead - wider range of job  opportunities.

  3. Ask yourself, first, which unit do you find most appealing? Secondly, have you undertaken in-depth research regarding each unit and the potential oppurtunites avaliable i.e promotion. Third, would you like to serve on the frontline or remain away from the possible dangers of warfare?

  4. Engineers, the Marines and Paratroopers are tough and glamorous, but the things you learn as an engineer will keep you employed after you leave the service.

  5. you will find the Royal Marines and Parachute Regiment a lot tougher than the Royal Engineers so depends on how fit you are

  6. Son, it doesn't matter if your British or American one truth holds true no matter where you are. If you ain't Airborne, you ain't s h i t.

The word Airborne is an automatic hire for many jobs when you get out and the word engineer in the military means nothing more than construction worker.

Prepare yourself well and become the Queen of Battle, then go on to a nice life in law enforcement. Stay your 20 in each and have two retirements before anyone else you know can retire once.
