  1. Are you referring to the Coast Guard, the National Guard or the Air National Guard? All forms of Military service entail a risk of deployment. That means that you could become a target regardless of your specialty. You have to be pragmatic about life and death and then you will be fearless. Everybody dies; when it is your time to go, its your time to go. It's not how you die that counts; it's about how you live. If you fear being harmed do not volunteer to go into arms way. The service is has no place for cowards; it also has no place for the rash.

  2. "well im not gonna go to war"

From that alone, I would say no..

  3. If you want better benefits then go Navy, if you don't want to be out at sea or away from home a lot then go Coast Guard. Other than that, don't do it.  Guard, I think you're referring to Nat'l guard is not for something who's scared, not that it's bad being scared. But you know, consider the Navy, it does have educational and medical benefits and you won't be running around on land shooting anything, in fear of being shot at either.

  4. the point of the Army is to execute national policy when all else has failed, which means you go to war, it doesn't matter the job your getting, you can still be deployed, just some MOS's deploy more than others. If all your joining for is to get the medical, I think your joining for the wrong reasons, get state medical of something. Honestly there isn't much to be scared of, like the guy in the post above me said: Everyone Dies someday, and I heard that you have more of a chance dying state side, than over in the sandbox right now anyways. So if your up for a life change (For the better) then sign up do your time, if you like it, then make a career out of it, if not at least you did it.

  5. well, i am sort of in the same situation as you are. i want to join the army, and become like something in the non combative stuff. it up to you, do you really want to do it. maybe become a linguist or something like that
