  1. that is a rat cage hamsters and gerbils are natural tunnelers, and love to roam through tubes. but thats is a really nice cage for pet rats.

  2. The cage would be perfect for gerbils, and I thiiink hamsters too. Rats on the other hand, can't live in aquariums even with toppers, as the ammonia can build up extremely fast, damaging their sensitive resp. systems. Give the gerbils & hammy that cage, and a wire one for the rats. :)

  3. Beautiful. Be sure to check that the space between the wires isn't more than 1 centimetre, or that the latch can be undone from the outside. The rats will probably figure out how to open it, so you may want to put twist ties on the door.

However, it might be too much for the gerbils and hamsters, but... I have an idea! Since they are natural burrowers, just fill up the bottom level almost all the way full with shavings so they can have fun burrowing! It's even better in an aquarium because you can see their tunnels through the glass. It is really entertaining for you and your pets!

  4. if it is for alll your pets than you shouldn't. just get a different cage for each pet!

  5. That is specifically made to keep gerbils in and is not designed to keep any other rodent in.

  6. i'm confused by your question, are you going to pu tthem all in one cage? don't do that!

btw, that cage is big enough for rats, but i think a little too big for gerbils or hamsters.

  7. Hi!

I have rats and gerbils, but no hamsters..  That would be great for rats, except that it has a wire bottom on the other floors... you would have to put a piece of cloth or cardboard down on it ( the stair things are fine )  It is also OK for gerbils, its not too big.. but you still have to put something on the wire bottom.  Its probably the same thing for hamsters, but I'm not sure.  Its a really nice cage though!

    Hope this helps!

    P.S.

    I'm a J-sus freak too =)

  8. Rats can sometimes get defensive and actually kill other rodents. Keep your hamters and gerbils in a cage a little smaller, and your rats in a cage about the size of the top of that cage.

  9. No way! You should never keep two many animals in the same cage, even if it is big.

  10. Um..  For two rats, yes.  It looks like a nice cage.  (:

For a hamster, it's a little bit too much.  Even for two gerbils as well.

Either way, you shouldn't mix breeds (hamster x gerbil) in the same cage.  Their behaviors are different and they might not take too well to each other.  Even with that, you'd have to introduce them slowly, which takes a bit of time, and it's still not guaranteed to be a good idea.

Any mating between the breeds would cause mutation and deformities.  Not a good thing.

Stick with the glass cage for your hamster-- just the glass cage.

Then another one for your two gerbils.  I had two in the glass cage and they happily and healthily.

The rats can have a separate cage with the wire contraption up top.

But they basically need three separate cages for the three breeds of rodents.

  11. Yes my point also. DO NOT PUT THEM TOGETHER! they will not get along. That cage is good for rats, pretty good for gerbals and hamsters too (maybe a little big).

    Look after them well   =)
