Im in 9th grade and i am aiming for a perfect score on the PSAT in 10th grade (even though it doesn't count) so that i can see if i can score REALLY high on the real thing in 11th grade.

Can i buy SAT books to study or does it have to be PSAT?

Thanks!

P.S. advice appreciated

  1. i thik if u wanna just practice like the problems then it would be fine for u to study a sat book for the psat. You just don't have to write an essay i thik is the difference and there's less sections? o_O

but if u want to practice like the setting of the psat testing room so you won't get nervous and learn to use ur time better, then go ahead and buy the psat book.

They're relatively the same except one has no essay and fewer sections?

  2. Yes...that's what I tell people when they ask me the same thing. The PSAT is the SAT w/o the essay and shorter of course. You just need to learn strategy and practice like no other. I'd buy Kaplan's SAT books-comprehensive or 12 practice tests-either one will help. It's good you're starting earlier, but don't stresss too much about it. I know A LOT of people in my grade who did that and overstudied their 10th grade test, did great, and took it for the real time in 11th grade and scored lower and missed the national merit cut off. Honestly, I wouldn't study for the 10th grade PSAT--yes,  take 1 practice test so you won't be totally shocked, but definitely don't overdo it.

    Hope this helps.
