  1. $300 per month is not much at all!  My friend and her husband each have been doing a paper route for many years now and they make a living from it and support a family of 5.  It is definitely hard work and rain, sleet, hail, snow, the paper goes out 365 days a year every single night.  If it is raining, she has to roll and bag her papers herself.  I do not know how your route works or how large of a route you have, but I actually went with her one time and she arrives to pick up papers at 12:30 at night hot off the press and her route is over at 6 am.  I think the way they do it is that they actually are "self employed" pretty much and they keep a percentage of the money from the papers sold.  They throw at residential homes, but also have several newspaper boxes that they must maintain also.  How long is your route and how old are you?  Do you drive to do your route or what transportation do you use? All of these factors will help me to decide if it is worth it.
