I just started snowboarding last year when i was 13 and i only went 2 times.

The first time i got a lesson and i couldnt even get up on my own. Then the second time i learnt how to get up on my own with no help and go down the hill. But that's all i could do.

I am know 14 and i wonder if i should still go again. I wanted to start snowboaring at an earlier age.

Should I keep going ?????

I dont really have any friends that go snowboarding.

Would it be weird to go bymyself?

Do people at the ski hills think i am a wannabe snowboarding if i suck?

Also any tips for me?

thanks!!! =]

  1. Yeah, you should keep at it. After a few more times you'll be fine. If you're interested in making friends who snowboard just check out your local snowboarding spot. Some places have camps or "teams" that are for teenagers looking to improve. I don't think it's too weird to go by yourself. I go by myself, but on weekday mornings when it's slow.

  2. of coarse stick with it...people will think you are a quiter!! Plus, those people at the mountain were begginners before...they might think you're a wannabe if you look like a snow bunny.......i always snowboard my self....but on the lifts, i always have another person i don't know with me.

i started last year when i was 14...and i'm still going at it! =D

  3. Stick with it!!! So many people give it up because they can't get it right away and get frustrated, think that they will never be able to do it.  It took me a handful of full days on the mountain (by myself when I was 16.. I was with my family and they all skiied) and I met other beginners (you can find them sitting around at the top for an hour) so you probably wouldn't be too alone.

Just work on carving on the bunny hill for a while, and watch other people, and eventually you'll get comfortable with it and it will be so worth all the work of learning how to snowboard!

You wont be a wannabe, how do you think everyone else learned how to snowboard? If you stay on the bunny hill, its chock full of beginners so you won't be out of place.

    Good Luck!

  4. STICK WITH IT   SNOWboarding is NOT something you just hope on and your awesome at.  ITS takes alot of time and practice to be good.  IF YOU enjoy it and want to learn and be better than you have to practice.   Snowboard in your back yard. and another thing that helps.,     Frickin strap right in at home and jump around on the thing practice leaning over the nose and tail (manual)  break your snowboard in a littel YOU aint gonna break the thing. THE MORE your on the snowboard the better you will be. IF your in the north eastern area come on over to jiminy peak and ill give u a lesson for free?>.  BOttom line snowboarding is sick.  AND the only thing sicker than snowboarding, IS CHICK SNOWBOARDERS

  5. Keep going for it.  It took me a few times to get the hang of it, but theres a huge learning curve.  Once you get the feel, which shouldnt take too too much longer, but depends on you, youll be off doing jumps and rails before you know it.

And dont worry about being alone.  I used to go up all through high school on my own after school (or during = X    haha), and youd be suprised how many nice people you meet just because youre up there alone.  Almost everyone wants to help you out.  Although thats not to say there are douchebags (pardon me) who think theyre a million times better than you because theyve been boarding since before they could walk, and wont even give you the time of day.  Never mind them, and stick with the nice people.  (and dont worry what other people think! They dont matter at all)

Good luck, dont get discouraged, and have fun!!!!

  6. You should keep going. It is great exercise and so much fun once you get past the falling down part. You've already made some good progress in learning. You don't want to give up now or all that effort will be wasted.

I started to learn to snowboard at 38 years old and it was hard for me. But I kept going and now I am so glad I didn't give up. It is a really great feeling to get control over the board and be able to fly down the mountain. It is great to be out on the mountain in the winter too. The scenery, fresh air, etc. are great.

I didn't have any friends who snowboarded either, so I went by myself. You'll meet lots of nice people when you ride the chair lift, or while waiting in the lift line.

And don't worry about what someone might think. Most of the people on the hill remember what it was like to learn. It doesn't make you a "wannabe" just because you haven't gotten the sport down yet. Most will encourage you and are happy to see you learn the sport.

Tips, get an MP3 player, the music really helped me with my snowboarding and made it a lot easier to ride by myself. Just be careful not to have it too loud so you can hear people coming down the hill behind you.

Also bend your knees and put your weight on your front foot, it will make it easier to turn.
