Question:

Should i lower the weight of my racket ?

it weighs 376 g and i have arm problems, people tell me to take some of the lead weights off to help my arm. what do you think ? i am 18 and i play at an academy.

  1. Well when you say "arm problems" I'm assuming you mean tennis elbow? You should be a little more clear and give more information about your condition and your game.

    Either way, 376g is pretty heavy considering Tour racquets for serve and volley players are usually around 340-355g (strung).

    If you have a precondition meaning the pain isn't coming from tennis... then yes of course lesson the weight of the racquet.

    If the problem comes from tennis then you probably aren't warming up and stretching correctly... and/or

    You are using an excessive amount of unused motion... and/or

    Attempting to use a heavy racquet with a predominately spin game (which is not a good idea)... and/or

    Using full mono-filament strings (such as Polyester) that's causing excessive impact shock on the joints... and/or

    Having excessive mishits that are transferring shock to your joints.. etc etc

    so there are a million things that could be the problem. Give some more information and I'll modify my response.
