I currently live in Georgia with my parents. I am twenty two years old and I've recently been accepted to a nursing school in Puerto Rico. They are totally against it. they want me to continue going to the school that ive been going to. but they dont have a nursing program. However this school is relatively inexpensive and doesnt take nearly as long to finish as alot of other nursing schools. They think i'm being stupid. Ive been called everything from a stupid MF to a dumb A$$.

Am i being crazy????... i dont think its anything wrong with going so far... and besides i want to be a travel nurse, and plan on going even further than puerto rico . am i wrong for wanting to experience more of the world than Georgia???...or the United States for that matter.

  1. No way!!! Your not being stupid. At 22 years old you need to go out and see the world. That is a great opportunity for you, not only to travel and make yourself familiar with a new place, but to learn a new language. You have no idea what kind of opportunities this could open up for you, you may find yourself going a lot further that PR. Do it regardless of what your parents say. I'm assuming your not married and you have no children, so whats stopping you. You seem to be a very ambitious young person. Take the chance now while your young and you have no responsibilities. Your parents will get over it. Dont stop your life for anyone!

  2. suggest you investigate the program a bit more.  first of all why is it so inexpensive?  Do they have the staff, resources, and facilities to give you a proper nursing degree so you can get a job and be successful.  2nd, Spanish is the main language in Puerto Rico, are classes going to be conducted in Spanish, and if they are done in English, how much Spanish is used to clarify points for those who are in the class where English is not their first language?

Although the school is inexpensive, what about living costs and moving costs and return costs, etc.  you have to factor all of that in.  I am sure there are nursing programs in Georgia that you can find as well that aren't overly expensive.

I wouldn't call you stupid or anything like that, but think you need to do some more research.
