I was with my boy outside a dead handyway in my hometown, with two cops across the street at the opposing store. Noone out, im waiting to get a interview from the store, minding my own, when these 2 cars come up. 1 Truck, a white guy in, the other truck, a black guy and his girlfriend. He walks in, looks at me, i look at him cuz he looks familiar, he walks back out and stares me down breakin his neck, so i say "WASSUP?" as in wtf you lookin at, n he goes "WTF You lookin at BOY" so i start gettin ready u know, walkin towards him a lil. n he said "You betta step the **** back" so i jus step bak a lil but stand my ground, he jus walks to his car....Should i of started talkin c**p? or waitin for him to throw the first one considering theirs cops acorss the street. I was jus wondering cuzh this really bothered me that i didnt say nothing to em, i just stood there like a fool, but something was tellin me not to mouth off.

To me it sounded like you tried to instigate the fight, it was a stupid thing to do. Especially with your kid there!  If you had said nothing in the first place and just minded your own business, you wouldn't be worrying about your manhood?  The guy was probably just going for some shopping for his family and thought why the h**l is he staring at me.  He said what he said out of self-defense, so get over it mate!

In the movies, acting tough is really cool.

See, if this were a movie, you would have grabbed him by the throat after he "dissed" you, and when he threw that first punch, you would have blocked it and then knocked him cold! Then the cops would have given you the eye, and you would have just said "hey brothers, he started the whole thing, an' I had to protect my boy. (Cops nod in agreement, cool funky background music as you walk slowly off to your interview. Your boy says "wow Dad, you're way cool!!").

Unfortunately, real life works more like this:

(Rewind). "he goes "WTF You lookin at BOY" so i start gettin ready u know, walkin towards him a lil. n he said "You betta step the **** back" so i jus step bak a lil but stand my ground, he jus walks to his car....and then I started talkin c**p, not wantin to look like a fool, I take a shot, but then he catches me with a chrome knuckles sucker punch and busts out all my teeth, and those dang cops still arrest me for startin' a fight after he goes and lays charges. (Your boy goes into foster care while you serve the six months. No funky music. Sounds of dentist's drill).

Basically, anytime you avoid a fight, you have won. Anytime you get into a fight, you risk getting badly hurt, and prosecution or a law suit. (Are you sure you can prove that you were acting in self defense if he lies and says you started it?)

Standing there "like a fool" was your act of genius, and next time keep listening to that "something" telling you not to mouth off. It might have saved you from getting stabbed.

in the streets u never stare at another person you make him think u got a problem with him or you gang bang ...... you should of minded your own buisness and just turned the other way unless your gonna do something then do it dont mean mug.... thats why u ended up looking like a fool.

no cops are as. sholes they dont care who started it. Both of you would have went. But its mature what you did and pretty scary. Black people are pretty big and fast. lol

But you never know. He might have had a gun and seen the cops so backed off.

IF the cops were across the street then you were risking a charge and without a speedy and ever so hasseling get away you would be in debt to the mob, i mean the man. Not to fun a place to be, let me tell ya. now feelin some kinda way about a situation is just twisting something, he walked away, you stood your ground. guess if your going to be inhabiting the same habbitate you should just wait for the right time to settle things, if anything is really off.

your allowed to defend yourself, so if someone swings on you its fare game to say he is trying to take your life, because i know going into a fight that right where iam at until i feel that the threat is neutralized. zombies die and the stronger man walks away pround, but the right man walks away proud, and having done nothing wrong (in the eyes of somebody else(which is what they would have you viewing your world in( dangerous falcy)

thought pressing charges on someone for kicking your *** is cowardly in itself. but iam done playing this hypo out.

I think you did the right thing by shutting up. You shouldn't have said anything in the first place. I think you would feel pretty stupid lying in a hospital bed with a knife or gunshot wound just because some guy was lookin at you.

If he looked at you,so what. You say you thought he looked familiar. maybe he thought you looked familiar too.So he was taking a bit closer look to see if he knew you.Or maybe he was checking you weren't gonna be a threat to him.

You would have been better off saying nothing. Specially when you had your son with you.

Having someone look at you does you and your son no harm.

Knowing he had a mate hust outside aswell,would have made any confrontation a bad idea.

Glad nothing came of it and you and your son are ok.

It is shameful the times we live in,either he though tyou would be afraid {he may have been bigger,showin' off for his girl} He may have been strapped.Nah you did the right thing because anybody who start **** out the blue is either crazy or crazy enough to be holdin' fucke'em keep living.
