Been working almost 4 yrs at a place and intend to make some changes. But i'm also planning to start a family. Privilages are only given to full time staff - maternity leave etc... Drive like 28 miles one way and back each day. Its getting a little tiresome? I haven;t looked around either, whats best to do?

  1. Not enough info.

  2. I don't understand your question....are you asking if you should look for another job that is closer to home before having a child......????  Need more info.....

  3. give me that again ???

  4. Who wouldn't be fed up with all that driving.

I guess you are asking from the point of view of changing your job to a little nearer home and whether or not you should have a baby as soon as you get it or whether to stay in your current job and have a baby.

I am no employment expert but there seems something a little bit wrong if your employer gives the first choice to those in full time employment. Are you and could you do the jobs that these people are going to do and are you prepared to work full time. I think these are the questions you should be asking yourself.

There is a risky way round all of this. get pregnant, go on Maternity leave and whilst on maternity leave look for another job. If you are successful go back to work, after your maternity leave, for your current employer to work out your notice and then join this other firm.

A bit naughty i know but it's your life don't let others dictate it!

  5. What exactly do you do for a living? I worked full time up to my last two weeks of being pregnant, so you could still work full time (depending on what you do) .... I would try to stay where you are at to keep your benefits and also you dont want to loose your maternity leave....
