  1. yes you should buy the filtered tank and i would also put a heater in the tank too. it will keep the Betta fishes water at a certain temperature and it will reduce the stress of the Betta, therefore lowering his risk of death by a disease.

  2. i don't think it'll kill him....

  3. ok, well bettas need 5gallon filtered heated tanks. plz get him this!! =]

  4. Bettas do need a filter just like any other fish. It keeps it healthier and happier. It will not stress him out. For some strange reason people think bettas like to swim around in their p**p and this is far from the truth.

Try a sponge filter or Bio Wheel as their currents are not too strong. (If a current is too strong the water can catch the bettas long fins like the wind with a kite)

You can almost use any filter though if you tie some pantyhose or something to where the water comes out to reduce the flow and make it suitable for bettas.

And don't forget a heater! Bettas are tropical fish and need the water in their tank to be about 75-80F. Without one they are lazy and have a good change at getting sick.

    Good luck!
