My husband and I are trying to relocate. He already has a job in the city we are trying to relocate in, I'm just waiting on my job.

I'm in the health care field, so it's not that difficult for me to find a job. it's just that people may be reluctant to hire me, due to the move.

I want to go ahead and put our house on the market. Because I know I will get a job.

He want's to wait until I actually get a job offer first.

The thing is, when someone calls me to offer me a position, they will want me to start within a month..what should we do. Put the house on the market now or wait.

  1. Considering the declining housing market, you would be better off to put it on the market now.  Unless you have an extremely sought after home, it will take awhile to sell anyway.  You will have 30+ days to vacate according to what you have on the contract.

  2. Since your husband already has a job in the new city, it sounds like you're already halfway there.  If you did make the move without selling your home, could you do ok renting out the home?

Or you could put the home on the market now and when you get a buyer, if you aren't ready to move yet, you could rent a place or negotiate a leaseback.  (You stay in the home and pay rent to the new owner while you are completing your move.)

  3. You should put the house on the market now.  You could always do a lease back from the new owners if your home sells quickly.
