  1. No question about this at all!

You do this in a heartbeat and I'll tell you why. PLAYING TIME. That is THE most important thing in football. If you play, you're going to get touches and touches=production. I mean just look at Jon Kitna. With Martz's all pass offense, he's a viable low end number 1 QB! Jonathan Stewart is expected to be the number 1 back. Rashard Mendenhall is not. He may be Marion Barber lite but I doubt he has that kind of production (yet). When it comes down to these situations (meaning high upside players), ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS take the player with more guaranteed playing time and that is Stewart. So take him.

  2. Yes.

  3. At this point it really doesn't matter because no one really can foresee playing time that far in advance.  Right now, they both are secondary backs; however, Mendenhall is backing up W. Parker who had a semi-serious injury late last year.  How is he going to hold up this season health wise??  One injury is enough to make a player an injury risk for the rest of their career.  However, Stewart seems to have much more of a chance at getting many touches a game because the Panthers' starter, D. Williams, never proved himself as a secondary back to D. Foster.  He had many opportunities to take the starting job from him but really never did.  So, this team will probably be forced to do a popular thing in the NFL with RBs these days.  Last years Giants?  How many RBs did they have? I would pick up J. Stewart because he's so explosive and has a much better chance at getting heavy carries in his rookie season but many people might say that the Steelers are a very run happy team and 25 carries for Parker and 10 for Mendenhall per game is a realistic number because they like to get a lead and run the rest of the game!!!!  Stewart just seems better, though!!!

  4. I would.  I like Stewart better and he will platoon right away and could become the starter in Car. as Williams is too small to be an every down back.  Mendenhall will have to fight for playing time w/ Parker, M.Moore and Davenport.  Plus, Pitt. will have to pass the ball a lot this year as they will be behind most of the time because of their brutal schedule.

  5. Wow - that's a close call. Gotta think that Williams gets his stab and Mendenhall is change of pace/goal line at best.  Soft lean to Stewart due to brutal Steeler sched.
